Erica began her career on Wall Street, working in Equity Capital Markets at Barclays Investment Bank in New York City. There, while monitoring early-stage companies that had the potential to go public, she found herself increasingly drawn to the innovation happening behind the scenes. But rather than continue observing these companies from afar, Erica realized she wanted to roll up her sleeves and start creating something where the impact of her work would be immediate and tangible.

That drive to build led Erica to Consumer Edge, an alternative data company, where she spearheaded the launch of a new vertical, from beta program to launch. It was in that role that she saw firsthand the excitement of bringing an idea to life. But more importantly, it deepened her desire to work somewhere with a mission she was passionate about.

Having started her career in finance, Erica considered herself fortunate to understand a world that often feels difficult to navigate to many. Over time, she witnessed how friends, family members, and peers lacked that same foundational knowledge. It wasn’t a lack of interest, it was a lack of access. Erica helped where she could, but she knew the need was far greater than what one person could address alone.

When she found Addition Wealth, the mission immediately resonated. It was a chance to help millions of people gain control over their financial lives, while also contributing meaningfully to a fast-growing startup. Erica joined the founding team to do both: build and empower.

At Addition Wealth, Erica is part of a movement to redefine financial wellness, making high-quality, personalized financial advice accessible to everyone, regardless of income, career stage, or financial literacy. Through a B2B2C model, Addition Wealth partners with employers and financial institutions to give individuals free access to advisors, tools, and education to support a wide range of financial decisions from debt management to equity compensation and retirement planning.

And the results speak for themselves. With 70%+ employee engagement and a 9.5/10 advisor satisfaction rating, the impact is real and growing.

What sets Erica apart in her role is her commitment to empathy and action. She continuously raises the bar on how Addition serves both companies and employees, diving deep into user needs and translating those insights into strategies that drive value. She approaches every challenge with a client-first mindset and a belief that behind every financial question is a human being trying to make life better.

This year, Erica is especially excited about how AI is transforming FinTech. At Addition Wealth, the team leverages AI to deliver smarter, more personalized guidance, meeting people where they are and helping them before they even know what questions to ask. She sees a shift away from static tools and toward adaptive, intelligent platforms, and she’s energized by what that means for the future of financial empowerment.

What is one piece of advice someone told you that resonated with you that can give to other women in FinTech?

I’ve been fortunate to work with great mentors that have shared a lot of helpful advice, but one piece stood out:

“Done is better than perfect.” As a perfectionist, I used to hesitate before putting work out into the world, but in a fast-moving environment, speed and iteration are key. Most things are fixable, and progress outweighs perfection. At Addition Wealth, running effective experiments has been critical as we’ve expanded to support a diverse range of companies and employees. We’re constantly iterating to refine our approach and deliver the best possible experience for our clients and their teams.

What's the best job decision you ever made?

Starting my career at a large company gave me a strong foundation, but pivoting to early-stage startups shortly after is where my growth really accelerated. In a startup, the responsibility and impact you can have are limitless if you’re driven and perform well. The learning curve can be steep, but so is the opportunity for growth - and for transforming your career.

Can you tell us about a time someone encouraged you to try a task or take on a project you didn’t think that you would know how to do/or be good at?

There have been many moments in my career where I doubted my ability to take on a new challenge. Imposter syndrome is real, but I’ve learned that growth happens outside of our comfort zones. Through coaching, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of myself, allowing me to identify and call out my own saboteurs when imposter syndrome starts to creep in. Having supportive managers who encouraged me to take on challenges beyond my comfort zone - and trusting myself to figure things out along the way - has been one of the most valuable lessons of my career.

Do you have any productivity hacks?  What keeps you motivated? How do you maintain a work/life balance?

For me, staying productive comes down to organization. I write everything down and divide my to-do list into quick tasks, deep-focus projects, and a backlog of items that can wait. This way, I can knock out smaller tasks between meetings while setting aside uninterrupted time for strategic work.

Work-life balance looks different for everyone, and I’ve worked hard to find a structure that allows me to prioritize both my career and personal life. I’ve found it can be hard at times to find a true balance, but taking daily time for myself - whether it’s a walk, workout, or unplugging during vacations - helps me avoid burnout and show up as my best self. At the end of the day, investing in yourself makes you more effective in every aspect of life.
